| Brickman Receives Business Ethics Award |
Tysons Corner, VA - This week the National Capital Society of Financial Service Professionals presented Brickman with their Business Ethics Award, recognizing the Company for its commitment to ethical business practices in everyday operations, management philosophies and responses to crises or challenges.
Over one hundred thirty companies were nominated from the National Capitol area and judging was conducted in partnership with the New Century College of Business at George Mason University. The rigorous review process included an extensive presentation of Brickmanís policies and programs dedicated to ethics, interviews with Executive leadership, as well as staff from the Companyís Corporate and MidAtlantic Divisions.
The judges were impressed by Brickmanís commitment to the dignity of every team member, most particularly the Companyís relationship with their field work force. In presenting the award, the judge cited several video programs Brickman has in place to train crew members and encourage them to develop personally and professionally, as well as to sensitize new supervisors to the culture and background of many crew members coming from Latin America.
Another defining factor in the judgesí decision was the Theodore Brickman Foundation, funded by Brickman employees and dedicated to helping team members when faced with unexpected, catastrophic expenses related to life threatening illness or death, or other financially challenging life events. The judges also admired Brickmanís response to the recent economic challenges, whereby the Company avoided layoffs and continued to match employeesí 401(k) contributions.
ìEvery company we visited this summer was exemplary it in its own way,î commented NCBEA judge, Nancy Prendergast. ìHowever, we felt that the Brickman Group had gone the extra mile in creating a robust ethics program and in its treatment of its customers and employees. It is with great pleasure that we extend our congratulations to the Brickman Group for winning this award.î
ìI am honored and humbled to accept this award on behalf of The Brickman Group,î said CEO, Scott Brickman. ìTreating others the way you would like to be treated is part of our culture, and has been since my grandfather started the company. Trust, honesty and respect are integral to our relationships with each other, and with our customers and vendors. Ethics is not something you can take for granted in this challenging business climate. Itís gratifying to receive the recognition of the business community, and I hope we will continue to live up to the expectation that Brickman will always endeavor to do the right thing.î |
