Benito Delgado
Supervisor for Lincoln Park Zoo
Chicago, IL

All Brickman team members take ownership of their jobs and find joy in a job well done. And because of our close partnership with our clients, many crew members become part of our client's "family". So, when Chicago's Benito Delgado arrived at work one morning, he didn't think twice about rescuing "one of his own." Performing routine plant care inside the Small Mammal Pavilion at Lincoln Park Zoo, Benito noticed that one of the exhibit's rare storks had become caught in some bamboo. He quickly radioed the zookeepers, then climbed the rocks to assist them free the bird and give it medical attention.

"Thanks to Benito's keen observations and quick reactions, we were able to save the Abdim's stork," said Robyn Barbiers, General Curator. "Had Benito not reported this struggling bird, I don't think it would have survived another few hours until the keepers arrived. And without his help, I would not have been able to extricate the bird. The stork is healing well, and we are optimistic that it will make a full recovery."

The Lincoln Park Zoo recently honored Benito with their "Species Award." Brickman is honored to have Benito as part of our family of dedicated workers. Gracias, Benito!
